2012 PMI Community Awards Review Committee
Summary
As a Community Awards Review Committee team member you will provide advice and expertise to PMI Chapter Development Department with respect to enhancing and evolving the Community Awards program as well as reviewing award applications for the purpose of selecting award winners.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- PMI Membership is required
- Strong understanding of PMI’s goals, principles and strategic direction.
- Chapter Board Member with strong knowledge of chapter operations.
- Must have served 3 or more years as a PMI Chapter Leader and/or PMI committee, advisory group or equivalent role.
- Attended two Leadership meetings or PMI Global Congress meetings within the past three years.
- Previous experience as a member of a virtual team.
- Previous experience working in a multi-cultural environment a definite asset.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills.

- Understanding and appreciation for helping the Institute honor those individuals and organizations who make outstanding contributions to the association and the project management profession
Deliverable(s)
- Review award applications and make recommendations for selection and determination of the winning recipients of the PMI Community Awards.
- Attend teleconference in July 2012 for final review of applications and determine recipients.
- Provide recommendations to PMI Chapter Development Department to improve the PMI Community Awards program.
- Propose community-submitted tools from awards applications to PMI Chapter Development Department that would align to the Catalog of Core and Extended Services, providing value to all PMI chapters.
- Review and provide feedback to Chapter Development Department on the PMI Community Awards program application package.
- Participate in monthly teleconferences and face to face meetings as applicable.
- Help in the development and distribution of Community Awards Program related communications and messaging.
Culture of Assignment
Virtual working group of up to 8 members from various regions selected by the Chapter Development Department (previous, unassigned chapter leaders) with monthly teleconferences and weekly email and internet community exchanges.
Alignment to PMI Strategy
Provide assistance, advice and expertise to PMI Chapter Development Department on the PMI Community Awards Program in alignment with the strategic objectives established by the PMI Board and operational objectives established by PMI Executive Management including the Chapter Development Department.
Volunteer Start and End Dates
Term is for 6 months starting 1 March 2012
Estimated Time Commitment
- Project work will range from 5-10 hours a month
- A minimum of one hour a month on a conference call
Other Candidate Requirements
- Advise and support the creation and implementation of the scripts and presentations of the awards at the Leadership Institute Meetings.
- Support in the selection of exceptional award winning programs for inclusion in the leaders Toolkit
- Spend a minimum of one hour a month on a conference call
- Have access to the internet and be available via e-mail on a regular basis.
- Spend adequate time to review award submissions and provide timely responses for all award categories.
Departmental Requirements
- Applicant cannot concurrently serve in more than one elected or appointed PMI volunteer position.
- PMI members who are selected to serve must recuse themselves from the evaluation processes if their chapter has submitted an award application
- Participants are required to sign and return by postal mail a Chapter Development Code of Conduct, PMI Confidentially and Records Compliance Agreement and the PMI Conflict of Interest Policy.
