Strategic Initiative Management: The PMO Imperative

Developed in partnership with The Boston Consulting Group, this report highlights how PMOs can play a crucial role in delivering organizational value by supporting the implementation of key strategic programs. To do this, PMOs must become more strategic, shifting their emphasis from process to value delivery while developing their capabilities accordingly.

The report presents four imperatives for PMOs to better engage and support senior leaders:

• Focus on critical initiatives
• Institute smart and simple processes
• Foster talent and capabilities
• Encourage a culture of change

Successful implementation of initiatives requires that PMOs be given the time, resources and attention of senior leaders they need in order to add value.
