Ricardo is a seasoned PMP® credential holder with more than 30years of experience and is PMI’s Global Leader of Community Culture to implement and drive PMI's strategic pillars, key initiatives, and foster our cultural values and behaviors. Prior to this role, Ricardo was Managing Director for the Latin American Region where he played a key role in developing an enhanced, local experience for our stakeholders in Latin America, creating value for individuals and their organizations.
A US citizen, born in Colombian and with a Mexican passport, Ricardo has lived and worked in several countries during the last 20 years, and is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Well-known to PMI and the project management community, Ricardo served on the PMI Global Board of Directors from 2010-2015 and was its Global Chairman in 2014. In the past years, Ricardo has served as a member (2016) and chairman of the PMI Board of Directors Nomination Committee (2017 and 2018).
Ricardo has managed and consulted on projects and programs in diverse industries (Government, Mining, Construction, Telecomm, Financial Services, Information Technology, and Development Projects, among others) for private and government organizations across North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Before taking up his role in LATAM, Ricardo was the Managing Director for America and the Asia Pacific regions at Practical Thinking Group and a PM Advisor with UNOPS (United Nations Office of Project Services).
He is one of the sought-after international project management keynote speakers. He has presented at Project Management and Leadership Congresses for the past fifteen years in a row in several countries. In 2019, Ricardo received the PMI Fellow Award, the most prestigious individual award presented by Project Management Institute to recognize professionals for significant contributions to the project management profession and the Institute.
